This exciting session welcomes attendees to the 58th Annual Scientific Session with some of the most hallowed traditions of the College. Join us for Dr. W. Douglas Weaver’s Presidential Address on health care reform and learn how you can become part of the solution. The Simon Dack Lecture will be presented by renowned health care economist Uwe Reinhardt, Ph.D. Reinhardt is expected to focus on the economics of health care. Also, don’t miss the showcase of the key scientific developments scheduled to be released during the Scientific Session, as well as major events and initiatives underway.
40th Annual Louis F. Bishop Lecture

Len Nichols, Ph.D., a respected health care economist will present the Bishop Lecture. Nichols directs the Health Policy Program at the New America Foundation, which aims to expand health insurance coverage to all Americans while reining in costs and improving the efficiency of the health care system. Join us for his lecture on the opportunities and threats in health system reform featuring an expert panel discussion and Q&A period.

8th Annual Maseri-Florio International Lecture

Karin Schenck-Gustaffson, M.D., Ph.D., a global leader in cardiology and gender medicine will present the Maseri-Florio International Lecture. Her selection as the Maseri-Florio lecturer honors her more than 30 years of work in an array of cardiovascular research areas, particularly in women with heart disease. Her work in this field has helped to identify important gender differences and has led to improved cardiovascular care for women. Join us for her lecture on “Gender and Sex in Cardiology: Does it Matter?”
